Skull and the crew at EGO were running a Unreal Tournament competition, so Pumpkin and myself thought we'd drop in and see how things progress (although drop in isn't the exact word, we were actually invited (all these upper class sinanigans)).
So here's some background to this event. 40 players have made it to the quarter finals, where they will pit their skills against each other for three very nice computers. While I'm sure most people will spending their weekend drooling over the 21" monitor that comes with one of them, there is some serious playing to be done. I've posted below the list of 40 people taking part.
We shall see how the guys get on later today.
The semi-final will be
played on Arcane Temple, which is a totally different map. Much bigger and it is
quite possible to control from a central position. Good knowledge of this map
should be the key as well as displaying skills with the rocket launcher, shock
rifle, sniper's rifle and your trusty enforcer.
Tournament registration will take place in an hour or so, so everyone except me is practising their UT. Other games are being played as well, such as Kingpin and of course Quake 3. I guess most people are having fun on the 2 meg line.
Skull as usual is trying to make us use his beloved joysticks and there are a few of those up for grabs as well.
The first 3 Quarter Finals have taken place, I'll put the screenshots up later, but the winners of them are,
1st Q-Final :- Pumpkin
Second Q-Final :- DAM.Nacher
Third Q-Final :- DAM.sac
Fourth Q-Final being played now.
The semi-final matches will be played on Sunday. The map for the final hasn't been announced yet, but after the final Q-Final it should be revealed.
On a personal note, I spent over 1 hour fixing my mouse, these PCs just don't like me. UKGamer people who came to the meet two weeks ago will remember I spent about 30 minutes setting it up then. Most people are watching the games on the projector while Stiney and Pumpkin are playing their beloved Diablo II. More from me when the last Q-Final finishes.
