Windows 10 Mail sucks

After skipping Windows 8 I felt I simply had to run with Windows 10, not least for the (potential) benefits of DirectX 12. Well, having finally bit the bullet I must confess to feeling somewhat underwhelmed. My gast certainly isn't flabbered. Don't get me wrong, it's OK, almost like the lovechild of Windows 7 and 8. It's just not very groundbreaking.
So what's the purpose of this slightly meandering post? Well, it's simply to share a little find with you.
If, like me, you're sat aghast that Microsoft would bundle it's latest OS with a mail client that's as buggy, incomplete and featureless as Mail for Windows, you've no doubt been frantically searching for a replacement. I know I was. Then I found Mailbird.
Mailbird is a clean, simple email client with some amazing features (like auto-detecting your server settings from just your email address), and, are you listening Microsoft, the ability to sort your emails into folders and even nested folders all accessible from a simple keyboard shortcut.
It has integrated social media functionality, it includes some nice task management touches and you can even customize the colours and layout.
Mailbird is free (with reasonably priced paid options for more features) and, above all, I'm not getting paid for saying any of this.
With a team of responsive developers behind it I'm looking forward to seeing where this may lead. If you're struggling for a solid email client to replace the hash-up that is Windows Mail then why not give it a try?
